Privacy Policy
This policy explains what data Coderank collects and how it is used.
What We Collect
We collect account and platform data needed to run Coderank. This includes your GitHub username, public profile metadata, and public repository/contribution data available through GitHub APIs.
If you create an account, we store your authentication/session details and settings needed to provide access to your dashboard.
For service reliability and abuse prevention, we may store technical logs such as request timestamps and IP address data.
How We Use Data
We use collected data to power rankings, developer/repository discovery, profile pages, platform analytics, and AI search features.
We also use data for security, fraud prevention, rate limiting, and infrastructure monitoring.
AI Search and Model Providers
AI search queries are treated as private platform interactions. To generate responses, relevant request content is sent to OpenRouter and/or the selected model provider.
Apart from those processing steps required to answer your query, Coderank does not publicly expose your AI search conversations.
Developer Identity Universe Private Pilot
For eligible pilot accounts, Coderank derives private, versioned interpretations from retained public GitHub evidence. These interpretations disclose their observed cohort, source timing, evidence, and limitations. They are not public profiles, biographies, employment assessments, or claims about private affiliations or intent.
Universe trails, saved progress, and correction feedback are private to the signed-in account. Feedback may include an optional note limited to 500 characters and can be replaced or withdrawn. Coderank does not forward Universe feedback or generated insights to a model provider or Discord.
The pilot records only enumerated product events with bounded identifiers, reason codes, and step numbers. Universe interaction rows do not accept raw claim or evidence text, repository descriptions, URLs, IP addresses, user-agent strings, OAuth data, or arbitrary nested metadata. The approved event-retention window is 90 days, and automated cleanup remains disabled until separately activated by an operator.
Deleting an app account removes its private trails, feedback, and interaction rows. Versioned analytics derived from public GitHub evidence may remain attached to the public GitHub subject for integrity and reproducibility, but they are not exposed as that former account’s private trail.
Optional Website Analytics
With your permission, we use two analytics services on coderank.me: Google Analytics and Gremlytics. Neither loads or sends anything before you accept. Rejecting analytics does not affect access to Coderank. Your choice is stored in this browser and applies to both.
Google Analytics measures visits to public information and ranking pages. After acceptance, Google receives page visits, a cookie identifier, and technical information needed to process the request. We remove URL queries and fragments, reduce incoming referrers to their origin, and do not send account IDs or search text. Private tools, sign-in, administration, builder shares, individual profiles, and repository detail pages are excluded. Advertising features are disabled.
Gremlytics, our own product analytics service, measures how Coderank is used across its pages. It records page addresses with usernames, repository names and other identifiers replaced by placeholders (for example /:username), the referring site and campaign tags, links to other sites, page performance, errors, and a few actions such as copying a profile card or completing onboarding. It also receives your browser family, device type, language and time zone. It uses a random identifier stored in this browser (no cookies) and, when you are signed in, your internal account ID; it never receives your email, GitHub username or search text, and it does not store your IP address. Administration and test pages are excluded.
You can turn analytics off below or through the public footer. This stops future collection in this browser, clears our Google Analytics cookies and the Gremlytics identifier; it does not remove previously collected data.
Data Sharing
We do not sell personal data.
We share data only with service providers required to operate Coderank (for example hosting, model routing, and observability vendors), and only for operational purposes.
GitHub API and Platform Compliance
Coderank respects GitHub API policies, authentication constraints, and rate limits. We process GitHub data within those limits and do not bypass GitHub access controls.
Retention and Security
We retain data as long as needed to provide service functionality, maintain security, and satisfy legal obligations.
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect data, but no system can guarantee absolute security.
